Abstract: High purity iron was irradiated at low temperatures with neutrons to various doses. Magnetic after-effects due to radiation induced defects were investigated in careful annealing experiments from 4.5 to 300 °K. A number of pronounced orientation after-effects with complex annealing behaviour were found. All relaxation amplitudes were roughly proportional to the dose. The after-effects disappeared on annealing between 130 and 270 °K. A comparison with other experiments indicates that an annealing stage of the electrical resistivity or the stored energy may correspond to the annealing of several magnetic after-effects.
